| New York State has implemented a statewide burn ban in effect starting October 2 due to increased fire risk and continued dry conditions. The burn ban will be in effect for 14 days, from October 2 to October 15, and will be reevaluated prior to expiration. This burn ban prohibits the starting of outdoor fires statewide for purposes of brush and debris disposal, which are not permitted in the Town of DeWitt, as well as uncontained campfires, recreational fires and open fires used for cooking, unless otherwise excluded below. This ban shall not apply to: ▪ Barbecue grills, maple sugar arches and similar outdoor cooking devices when used for cooking or processing food. |
