Welcome to the DeWitt Fire District webpage. I appreciate you taking the time to visit us and we hope the information you find here proves helpful. Our website will provide you with information about the programs and services that we take pride in providing to our community. We have a proud history of providing high a level of fire and emergency services dating back to our formation as a fire department in 1932. DeWitt Fire is a diverse group of talented personnel that reflects the eclectic community that we serve. We are very fortunate to have some of the most talented fire service and emergency medical professionals as part of our organization. We consider providing public service a privilege and value the trust we are given by those we serve. We are dedicated to delivering our services in a courteous, expedient, and efficient manner. Our strength as an organization is based in our people and their unwavering dedication to excellence.
It is my honor to serve as your Fire Chief. My career here began in 1998 as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Over those years I have had the privilege of serving as a firefighter, paramedic, lieutenant and training officer. Each day of my career has been an opportunity to serve the personnel of this fine organization and those in our community. We dedicate ourselves to excellence through teamwork, innovation and a commitment to safety.
Our community is a diverse one, with many neighborhoods, busy commercial corridors, many places of worship, educational institutions, light industrial facilities, office complexes, recreational areas and major transportation routes all coexisting in a small geographical area. Together with similar neighboring jurisdictions we train to meet the inherent challenges of those demographics. During 2017 we responded to 1,837 calls for service.
We value the history and tradition of the DeWitt Fire Department, an organization built upon the strong shoulders of our past leadership; without whom we could not tackle the challenges before us. As the Chief of Fire, I consider it my personal responsibility to make this community as safe as possible through our commitment to fire prevention, emergency medical care, life safety and emergency planning.
I encourage you to browse through our website to learn more about our department. Please continue to visit and also follow us on Facebook.
